Monotype Prints and Batiks
Rice paper batik is a process of progressively applying watercolor paint and wax layers to build up an image starting with the lightest color. The result is a rich pattern of color and texture.
Each of my monotype prints is pulled by hand from a gelatin plate using a process that cannot create identical works. I explore various methods for applying, manipulating and masking multiple layers of acrylic paint on the plate.
